An Interview with Realtor - Ariana Avendano

Where did you grow up and what is your background?

I was born in Los Angeles California and moved to the Bay Area at the age of five. I’ve lived here ever since, with South San Francisco becoming home to me. I love the diversity found here near the city of San Francisco. My parents were born in beautiful Mexico and immigrated to California in the early 80’s. My husband and I bought our first home in the summer of 2017 as we welcomed our third child. We have two older boys, our “baby” girl, and are so grateful to have a place to call home for our family.

Tell us a little bit about your own homeowner story and what you’ve experienced as a homeowner.

Regarding our first home, well it was a total fixer-upper. We went through a long remodel, but we finally made it our dream home. At first we thought that getting a fixer wouldn’t be ideal for us since we had three kids including a newborn, so we had to consider all the pros and cons. Location was very important to us. Being close to our kids’ school, to family, and my husband’s work were among our top priorities. We realized that getting into a remodel was our only way to check off all of our boxes. Though it was scary at first, it turned out to be a huge blessing. We were able to customize our entire home with beautiful finishes, convenient room layouts and even created an en-suite, to name a few. It was also nice to see all the helping hands from family and our community supporting our endeavor. We look back and remember how hard it seemed at first but know that we wouldn’t change it. Not only did we make our home to our liking, we also gained that sweat equity.

How did you get into real estate and why do you like/love it?

I have the best friends. My girls at TGATH encouraged me and taught me how rewarding of a career this is. It constantly reminded me of when I was trying to buy my first home. We spent years, and submitted dozens of offers until we found the right realtor to get the deal done. Now, I want to use what I’ve learned and experienced to help others realize their dream of home ownership in a very competitive market.

Other things you want people to know about you as a person.

First off, my family and I spend most of our free time doing volunteer work in the community. We absolutely love it and enjoy spending that time together.

Before becoming a realtor I worked in the dental field. I went to a vocational school right after high school and really loved working with people and helping them achieve their “smile goals” in the orthodontist specialty. Finally, I really enjoy having an active lifestyle and working out with my friends. See you on the leaderboard!

What are the things that influence your approach to working with your clients?

Knowledge is power. When I started my home-buying process, I felt so lost and confused with the steps I needed to take. I want to take that terrible feeling away from my clients when they’re either buying or selling. I am also very committed and take deep interest in people’s lives and needs. I like to make my clients feel comfortable with expressing any questions or concerns they may have. At the end of the day, we are a team working hard to reach a common goal.

What are your goals for The Girl and The Home?

I am very excited and grateful to be able to join The Girl And The Home team. I was drawn to their approach of giving special attention to every client. As I mentioned before, their love for what they do inspired me to get into real estate in the first place. They have been very helpful in guiding me through my schooling and now continue to do so for my business. I am determined to continue to help others and contribute to the team as we combine all of our years of experience.
